In a quiet corner of San Mateo County, Misu Kane runs the Afro Bushido Academy, the dojo built by his late father, the legendary Master Buji. Misu is the reluctant last heir to a hidden warrior tradition, one too dangerous to teach in the open and too principled to be bought. He would rather bury the past than carry it.

Then one night outside the dojo he interrupts a kidnapping, pulls a stranger out of a van and pulls himself into something far larger than a street crime. The woman he saves is a loose thread in a decades-old conspiracy.

Behind the county’s courts, badges and prisons moves the White Dragon, a covert force that has spent generations testing, breaking and burying anyone who threatens its order. Misu’s only map through it is the puzzle Buji left behind: a koan of security, knowledge and capability that separates the seekers of the Afro Bushido code from its keepers.

To protect what remains of his family and honor a bloodline that runs back to the last samurai of the Kokuryukai, Misu must finally pick up the code he spent his life resisting.
